A Gift from Childhood

Children give their own meaning to the events that happen to them, or that they happen to witness.

And from then on, an inner map is built on that basis – a picture of how the world around each of us is arranged.

As adults we rarely remember our childhood traumas.

The psyche has a defence mechanism that allows the memory of unpleasant events to be repressed.

Yet there are many obvious consequences of childhood psychological trauma in adult life, and it is hard to deny how strongly they can shape a person’s way of living.

Childhood traumas affect a child’s psychological state, and if no new inner map is created, the old way of interpreting reality goes on working and shaping what

we usually call fate.

We invite you to a lecture where you will be able to learn:

How do the consequences of traumatic experience received in early childhood affect an adult’s health and well-being?

How do fixed gestalts (fixed patterns of behaviour and ways of perceiving) become part of character? In what way does procedural memory shape the characterological way of responding in adult life?

How does the pattern of attachment formed in early childhood become a guide for building other close relationships in the future?

Who this lecture is for:

psychology students;

practising professionals;

anyone simply interested in learning more about this subject.

The lecture counts towards the record book of KIGiP students.
