12 ways to sum up the year, depending on your character

Someone writes on social media:

“Well then, here comes the moment to sum up the year that is ending…”

Others will say: “Oh, come on, summing up the year in 2021 — that is a bit much!”

We like the tradition of summing up the year.

And here is how, in our view, people with different character types would sum up the year.

So….

The narcissistic one

would announce it for all to hear: “I have done great things — and what have you achieved?!”

The histrionic one

would tell everyone, but as if in passing: “Oh, I am not going to sum up the year, what is there to sum up, I only got three promotions…”

The schizoid one

would tell no one anything, but would unfold a vivid fantasy inside his own head.

The depressive one

“And why sum anything up, there was nothing good… Let bygones be bygones…”

The dependent one

“Thank God, nobody left me this year!”

The borderline one

aggressively: “So I did not sum up the year, and what of it?! Got a problem?”

The obsessive one

will most certainly sum up the year. He will enter every completed task into Excel, rank them by importance, run a comparative analysis, an efficiency assessment and a correlation analysis, then pull it all together and produce a detailed presentation. At the end he will start doubting and check everything one more time.

The avoidant one

while summing up the year, will grow anxious about the future, will feel dizzy and notice his heart racing. He will decide never to sum up the year again.

The paranoid one

having started to sum up the year, will wonder who came up with this and why. What if someone devised it on purpose, to uncover his secrets? He will glance around suspiciously and go on summing up, covering what he has written with his hands.

The masochistic one

in order to get the most pleasure out of summing up, he will recall all the pain of the past year and describe it in the finest detail.

The dissociative one

will not remember what happened.

The passive-aggressive one

will agree to sum up the year, but first he will put the moment off, and then he will accidentally forget.

And which type do you consider yourself to be?
