Accreditation of certified gestalt therapists of KIGiP

The aim of accreditation is to guarantee the quality of the psychotherapeutic services provided by gestalt therapists who belong to the professional community of KIGiP and who have received from the Institute a positive assessment of their professional competence to give qualified help.

An accredited certified gestalt therapist of KIGiP has the right to provide therapy to KIGiP students, and those hours count as individual therapy towards the student’s certification requirements.

Accreditation is a compulsory procedure for confirming a gestalt therapist’s experience and professional competence.

Only by going through accreditation can a gestalt therapist become a recommended therapist of KIGiP.

The results of the accreditation procedure are valid for 5 years; after that period the gestalt therapist’s status must be confirmed again.

Requirements for accreditation

1. A completed training programme in the gestalt approach, with the qualification of gestalt therapist awarded and confirmed by a certificate.

2. Appropriate basic education (psychologist, medical psychotherapist, sexologist, neurologist, psychiatrist).

3. At least 3 years of therapeutic practice after receiving the gestalt therapist’s certificate, with at least 5 clients a week in that practice.

4. Written recommendations from two specialists of the KIGiP community — therapists, trainers or supervisors (with more than 3 years of experience) who have seen the therapist at work and can confirm the applicant’s professional level when we contact them.

5. A written recommendation from an accredited KIGiP supervisor.

6. Regular personal supervision — at least 25 hours over the last three years of practice (supervision taken towards the gestalt therapist’s certificate does not count).

7. Acceptance of and adherence to the Code of Professional Ethics.
