The Meaning of Life Is Not a Goal but a Process

Most of us are used to living as if meaning had already been decided in advance. Picture yourself as a metro driver: a fixed route, predictable stops, and you know where your journey will end.

No surprises, nothing unexpected — but is there room in that for anything real?

Now imagine another scenario.

You are standing on the shore of the ocean, and every wave is a possibility. You do not know what it will be like, but that does not stop you from stepping into the movement.

This is often how we move through life: without guarantees, but open to what is new.

Yet the meaning of life is not a wave to be caught, nor a route to be walked. It is a question you ask yourself every day: “What am I here for?”

Sometimes it is barely audible, lost in routine, but no less important for that.

Meaning is not something permanent or found once and for all. It changes along with you. What mattered to you a few years ago may lose its significance today. And that is fine. This is precisely where the depth of life lies: each new stage brings new values with it.

We often look for meaning in big things: in achievements, in dreams that are supposed to change our life. But meaning is not always loud and visible. Sometimes it hides in simple things: in your ability to look at the sky in the morning, to support someone close to you, or simply to stop and feel the moment.

The existential truth is that meaning is not given to us from the outside. No book, no theory, no other person can define what it consists of for you. It is your choice and your responsibility.

But isn’t that a wonderful possibility?

Every day of yours, every step of yours can be filled with the significance you choose to give it. Even if that step is only one more attempt to stay on your feet in an uncertain world.

You have the right to ask yourself difficult questions.

You have the right to change your answers.

And you have the right to live the way your own truth tells you to.

Because the meaning of life is not a destination.

It is a process in which you are the main protagonist.
